Ranieri Seeking ‘Perfect Game’

- The City boss believes it is important to continue to be strong and solid 

- A victory against Manchester United will see the Foxes crowned Barclays Premier League champions 

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri believes his side must play the ‘perfect game’ if they wish to return from Old Trafford with a positive result on Sunday. 

Ranieri’s men head to Manchester United knowing a win could secure them their first-ever Barclays Premier League title. 

But City will come up against a side that have won four of their last five Premier League games, as they hunt down fourth position in the table.

Ranieri said of Sunday’s opponents: “They have young players, very good, fantastic. I know very well [Anthony] Martial, also [Marcus] Rashford and [Jesse] Lingaard, and the experienced players, very good. 

“They want to beat us, it is normal. The same Everton and Chelsea. It’s important for us to be strong and solid. 

“It’s a difficult match because United are a very good team and [Louis] Van Gaal is an experienced manager. 

“It is important for us to make the perfect game – that is important for us. The perfect game – the best away performance of the season we have to do.” 

It is the togetherness of his side that has most pleased Ranieri, who ahead of the fixture at Old Trafford stressed the importance of his men working hard for each other. 

He added: “I am relaxed because I watch my players. When I see my players train well, to enjoy to fight and run and help each other then I am relaxed man because I am a sporting man. 

“In sport you prepare everything well and when you know the players are working well and they make the performance, but the result is not good, I say ‘what more can they do?’ Nothing. 

“I am relaxed. When I see my players train well, I am relaxed. When I see my players play well in the match, I am happy.”
