A total of nine goals in nine Barclays Premier League games for Jamie Vardy has seen the Leicester City striker earn plenty of plaudits throughout the footballing world.

The England international sits top of the Premier League’s goalscoring charts, three ahead of Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez and Georginio Wijnaldum, who have each netted six times.

Vardy’s maiden season in England’s top flight saw him find the back of the net five times and having already eclipsed that after just seven 2015/16 appearances, Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri believes his No.9 can continue to improve.

“It’s good,” Ranieri said of Vardy’s form. “I hope he can continue, but football is strange. Football is football. It’s fantastic but it’s not important to think about the goals, it’s important how he’s playing for the team. That is important for us.

“It’s the first year he’s showed his attitude in the Premier League. He scored 16 in the Championship and now he’s starting to learn. I hope he can improve again.

“If he can continue in this way, it will be fantastic. He must play and fight. That’s it. It’s important at the end of the match, his team-mates and the fans are satisfied with the performance.”

Another impressive performer in Leicester blue this campaign has been Riyad Mahrez, who scored four goals in his first three Premier League appearances.

The Algeria international started from the bench against Southampton last time out, coming on at half-time to help the Foxes recover from two goals down to draw 2-2 at St. Mary’s Stadium by setting up Vardy’s injury-time equaliser.

Ranieri said: “Riyad can play everywhere because his skill is amazing. When he starts from the left and goes inside from the right he is dangerous, but he is dangerous everywhere.

“It’s important he runs with the ball in the middle. He has to stay calm and show his ability in the last 20 or 25 meters. This is the goal with him. He knows what I ask of him.”
