Ranieri: We’ve Improved A Lot

- The Foxes have registered five clean sheets in their last seven Barclays Premier League games 

- City head to Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Sunday 

Claudio Ranieri believes Leicester City’s excellent defensive performances in recent weeks are evidence of his side's ability to understand the City boss' tactics. 

Table-topping Leicester have recorded five clean sheets in their last seven Barclays Premier League games and are also the league’s joint-highest goalscorers alongside Manchester City. 

That combination has seen them build a healthy five-point lead at the top of the table, and Ranieri says it is all down to his players’ adaptiveness and understanding of his philosophy.

He said: “It’s important they understand [my tactics] very well because it’s not [good] to repeat every time the movement. 

“I try to explain movements in the training session and watch the game and try to see what happened, whether they are making mistakes and how to improve every time. 

“Slowly, they improve a lot. At the beginning they conceded a lot of goals and now we start to concede less goals. That is because all the players understood better the tactics and movement.” 

Positive results – not least the stunning 3-1 victory at Manchester City last weekend – have arrived in abundance for City this term, and Ranieri believes that all comes down to consistency. 

He added: “We know very well we need to make points in every situation, every match. We know we can lose against Arsenal but it’s important to win the next match. 

“It’s important to continue to have consistency. We don’t have pressure because we did our job. Our goal is okay. It’s fantastic. We don’t have pressure.”
