Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has estimated that defender Jeffrey Schlupp could be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring problem.

The City boss confirmed after the 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Monday that the Ghana international had injured his hamstring and has now revealed that he will not be available for selection until the turn of the year.

Another player with a hamstring injury is midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who had to be substituted against Chelsea early on after pulling up following a challenge on opposition midfielder Oscar.

Ranieri said: “[Jeffrey] Schlupp is a little more serious. I don’t know how long it will take – maybe one month or six weeks. I don’t know.

“Drinky (Danny Drinkwater) is okay. He has a little problem. I think not for the next match but against Liverpool, he is ready.

“Drinky and Ritchie [De Laet] are different injuries because one is a hamstring and another is a tackle on an ankle and that can happen. I think we are covered in every position.”

Matty James and Ritchie De Laet will also miss Saturday’s clash at Goodison Park due to injury, while defender Robert Huth is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Chelsea.

Ranieri believes strength in depth is something that Leicester possess and says both Yohan Benalouane and Marcin Wasilewski are in contention to replace Huth against Everton.

He added: “Without Rob [Huth], I need to choose either Benalouane or Wasilewski. I’ll keep this until the night before the match – that’s when I make my decision.

“Both are in good condition, both train very well every day. It’s not a hard decision. I’m sure they will play well.”
