Leicester City FC Community Trust are moving into the second year of Barclays Premier League Works...
In partnership locally with Barclays and Leicester College, the Trust have teamed up with the Premier League and Barclays to offer a great opportunity to young adults aged between 16-25 years.

Barclays Premier League Works uses the power of football to engage young people who are often not involved in education, training or employment, and then uses the best of business to train them to become work ready and achieve their life goals.

The programme provides young people with financial skills, confidence and the experience they need to make a positive transition back into education, access training or gain meaningful employment.

Participant Jordan Owen, 17, first came to the attention of Leicester City Community Trust via Community Cohesion Manager James Lowbridge, as a participant at Premier League Kicks project.

Jordan expressed his interest in coaching and passion for the Club and has developed a range of skills within the Barclays Premier League Works programme in addition to gaining the Sports Leaders Level 1 Award and BTEC Level 2 Employability Certificate. Barclays Premier League Works has positively changed Jordan’s attitude towards learning, and the delivery team has assisted with his C.V. and job search.

We are pleased that Jordan has gained employment within the City Fanstore as a retail assistant.

Jordan said: “This is my first job and I can’t believe I have been given this opportunity to work at a Club I support. The Barclays Premier League Works project has given me the skills and confidence to hand in my CV to potential employers and my biggest achievement was the qualifications I have gained and seeing a change in my behavior. I would like to thank everyone at Leicester City Community Trust for helping me and giving me so many opportunities.”

Education Officer Jamie Skinner added: “Barclays Premier League Works has become the flagship education project at the Trust and success has been demonstrated with 11 young people moving back into sustainable employment and seven returning to education, which is a great achievement for everyone associated with the programme.”
