Schlupp Settled In Leicester

Jeffrey Schlupp says Leicester City is exactly the right place for him to improve as a player, after signing a new four-year contract with the Club.

Following an outstanding first season in the Barclays Premier League, Schlupp committed his future to the Foxes on Monday with a new long-term deal and has only one thing on his mind – playing the quantity of games that will help him develop.
Having started 30 of City’s 38 games in the league last season, 2014/15 was the first campaign in which Schlupp, 22, has properly established himself as a first team regular.
And having been with the Club from the age of 11, the Foxes Academy graduate is confident that he can continue to move forward if he keeps gathering such experience.
“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for a club that is seriously going places,” Jeff told lcfc.com
“We’ve seen how far the Club has progressed in the last few years and it looks like it’s just the beginning.
“I’ve been here a long time, I know a lot about the city and the Club and I’ve always felt settled in Leicester. It’s a great place to work every day, I know a lot of people here and I think that’s helped me to progress. It’s a really good environment for a young player to learn and improve your game.
“Having just played my first real full season, I want to make sure I come back in the right condition so that I can kick on, get more football and keep developing.
“I want to play as much as I can in the next four years so it’s all about settling down and getting games under my belt.”
Crowned City’s Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year in May, Schlupp enjoyed a truly excellent introduction to top-flight football, producing a string of powerful, purposeful performances on the Foxes’ left flank, which helped his side mount a remarkable late-season recovery to survive in the division.
And Schlupp says, having had a taste of life in the Premier League, it was the squad’s determination to stay there that took their performances to another level.
“I couldn’t have imagined that last season would go as well as it did,” he said.
“At first I was just buzzing to be playing in the Premier League, but I think the more football we all played the more we all wanted to make sure we stayed there.
“I never expected to win any awards, but having picked up a couple at the end of the year, it felt like a really good season.”
