Schlupp Warns Of Dangerous Newcastle

Jeffrey Schlupp says that Leicester City’s ability to adapt could help them find a way to win against Newcastle United in the Barclays Premier League on Monday. 

They face a Magpies outfit sitting second bottom of the table and fighting for their Premier League lives – meaning a tough afternoon could be in store for the Foxes at King Power Stadium. 

However with the Foxes having adapted their playing style well to secure wins over Norwich City and Watford in recent weeks, Schlupp believes that City are capable of doing so once again if required. 

Claudio Ranieri’s side will go into the match five points clear at the top of the table with nine games of the season remaining, while the Magpies are just one point from safety – an indication of how tricky the fixture will be. 

“They’re always dangerous,” Schlupp said of . “They’re a really good team and everyone is still baffled as to why they’re so low in the league table. 

“We’ve got to respect every opponent we play and of course we take each game as it comes. We respect them but we’ll be trying to beat them like we do in every game. 

“I think a lot of teams have been coming to us and showing us a lot of respect. We’ve almost had to change the way we approach some games whereas before we played on the counter. 

“Now we’re trying to dictate the play and work an opening. I think it just shows how far we’ve come with the team and the players we’ve got. It’s not just one game plan now; we can do it one way or the other. That just shows how far we’ve come.” 

The Foxes have become renowned for their lightning-fast counter attacking style but Newcastle are also capable of causing problems on the break – something Schlupp hopes City will be ready for. 

He said: “I think you deal with it by keeping possession and us doing all the attacking. We’ve kept it tight at the back over the last few months and not conceded many goals. 

“That’s how you deal with it too – not conceding many goals. We’re going to be attacking and definitely getting at them. Hopefully we can get an early goal and go on to win the game.”
