Schmeichel Applauds ‘Sensational’ Schwarzer

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has described fellow Fox Mark Schwarzer as a ‘sensational’ shot-stopper.

The Danish international believes that Schwarzer’s professionalism on and off the pitch sets a high standard for all of City’s players.
Schmeichel says he has learned a great deal from the Australian since he joined on a free transfer from Chelsea in January.
“He’s fantastic,” Schmeichel told Foxes Player. “There’s no other way to describe him, he’s sensational. To be doing what he’s doing and seeing him day in, day out in training is quite incredible.
“He’s an example for all young goalkeepers and I’m learning lots from him. I’ve really enjoyed working with him and seeing how he conducts himself on and off the pitch.
“In training and the way he works is great for me and the other ‘keepers at the Club to see. Not just the ‘keepers, but all the players at the Club. To have the desire and professionalism to still be playing at his age and at the level he is, is a credit to him.”
Schmeichel, 28, also explained his desire to play as long as possible, citing Schwarzer’s continued involvement at the top level as an inspiration to do so.
Schmeichel added: “I would love to [play beyond 40], I would absolutely love to. I love football and I love playing and I will do anything in my power to play as long as I possibly can.
“I look at Mark and other vastly experienced goalkeepers that I’ve worked with like Shay Given, see how they behave and how hard they train to maintain their fitness and sharpness and it rubs off.
“You try to take note and give yourself every single chance of staying in the game as long as possible.”
