Schmeichel Back In Contention

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is once again available for selection as the squad prepare for a tough Barclays Premier League challenge at home to Hull City on Saturday.
The goalkeeper has been kept out of action since a broken metatarsal sidelined him ahead of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in December, but will now fight it out with Mark Schwarzer and Ben Hamer for a starting position against Hull.

It was yet more good news for manager Nigel Pearson, who was happy to have a relatively fit squad at his disposal going into the King Power Stadium clash after a spell of just one game in three weeks.

The manager reflected: “I can’t do anything about it (the fixtures) so we’ve tried to utilise the time as best we can.

“We’ve got more or less a fit squad. It’s only really Dean Hammond [who is out], but he has started training.

“Zoumana Bakayogo is out, Anthony Knockaert is not available because he’s gone back to France to see his dad, who isn’t very well.

“Those players apart, we’ve got a full squad to name from.”

On the return of his goalkeeper, Pearson added: “Schmeichel is back in contention, which is good. We’ve three ‘keepers available now, which is always nice.”
