Schmeichel: No Time For Heads To Drop

It was Schmeichel’s first start for the Foxes since 7 December against Aston Villa because of a broken metatarsal, and despite the frustration of losing, the goalkeeper saw positive signs from the side. 

“We came to White Hart Lane and scored three goals, and now there’s no time for our heads to drop,” Schmeichel told Foxes Player. 

“We’ve nine games left and six of those are at home against teams that are in and around us. It’s still in our hands and we have to do better, we have to win. 

“It’s disappointing but on the other hand I think we’ve got a reason to be proud of ourselves for the way we stuck at it. We went 2-0 down and got back to 2-2, then the penalty, that killed us. Then the fourth goal (the own goal), that’s just the way it’s been going. But if we keep playing like that then we’ll win more points than we lose.” 

The result leaves the Foxes seven points from safety with nine games remaining, but the frustration for the players and supporters alike is that it could easily have been a different story had luck been on their side. 

He added: “When you look at the goals that we conceded, then there’s an element of fortune in Tottenham’s favour in all of them. 

“But we’ve come to White Hart Lane, we’ve scored three goals and we should be getting something out of the game. 

“Fortune didn’t favour us but we’ve got to put it right. We can’t keep saying we’re unlucky and we can’t keep conceding goals the way we have.“
