Sesay’s Praise For Resolute Performance

Leicester City Development Squad defender Alie Sesay spoke highly of his side’s work ethic after they shared the spoils in a goalless Barclays U21 Premier League draw with Tottenham on Monday.

Played at Spurs’ Training Centre, the young Foxes put in a tireless performance against a side that sat third in the league going into the clash.
While Emmanuel Sonupe carved out the best effort of the game – hammering the crossbar for the hosts on the half-hour mark – City weren’t without their chances, and created several opportunities that could have won themselves the game.
Content with a point, Sesay told Foxes Player: “It’s a good result. It’s not easy to come away from home to a place like this and face opposition like Tottenham and get a result.
“We’re pleased with it, and as a defender I live for the clean sheets – it’s almost like scoring a goal.
“We matched them, we tried to press them high up. They’re good players at a big club, but we nullified the threat.”
The Sierra Leone international started the game in midfield before dropping into a back five comprised of three centre-halves including first-teamer Matt Upson and youngster Elliott Moore, who both played 90 minutes, and two full-backs in captain James Pearson and Ben Chilwell.
Explaining he enjoyed his role in the centre of the pitch, Sesay added: “I’m just trying to add another string to my bow. I’m quite young so I’m all for it if it’s going to help me become a better player.
“It was good [playing in midfield]. It’s nice to get stuck in there and get on the ball and try and play.
“They were quite physical and very technical as well so you’ve got to work hard against them.”
