An elated Danny Simpson labelled Saturday’s 3-1 Barclays Premier League win at Manchester City as ‘amazing’ and believes the timing of his side’s goals proved crucial.

The Foxes were 1-0 up after just three minutes, as defender Robert Huth turned in Riyad Mahrez’s free kick at the front post.

Man City had opportunities to draw level, but Claudio Ranieri’s outfit defended admirably and carried their one-goal advantage into the break.

It then took just three minutes for City to double their lead thanks to Mahrez’s magnificent solo effort, before Huth headed in again to make it 3-0 on the hour mark.

He said: “It’s hard to explain – to come to a place like this, with the team they’ve got and the squad they’ve got and to perform like we did [is great]. We scored three goals and maybe could have got a few more – it’s just an amazing day.

“Sometimes in football the timing of the goals do help. It’s a tough place and when you’re 1-0 up within a few minutes, you can’t ask for a better start – then you’ve just got to soak up all their pressure.

“We’ve seen all season that we’ve got the players. As long as we’re solid, we’ve got the players that can score goals and that’s what Riyad [Mahrez] did for the second goal – it was just magic.

“Everyone knows that Huthy (Robert Huth) over the years can score goals from set plays, so I’m happy for him and happy for everyone involved with Leicester.”

Over 3,000 members of the Blue Army watched the Foxes put in one of their most impressive performances of the 2015/16 campaign, and Simpson hopes his side can continue to reward the Club’s faithful fans, including those who head to Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

He added: “They’ve been brilliant and we’re just happy we can keep performing like this and keep giving them these special days out. Hopefully we can keep it going and keep putting a smile on their faces.

“It’s another tough game [against Arsenal] and everybody knows it’s a tough place to go. They have similar players [to Man City].

“They like to overload in wide areas and make two-on-ones and three-on-twos. The manager will set us up right and prepare us to go there and give us every chance possible to win.”
