It was ‘back to the day job’ for our very own Jim Donnelly on Monday, after our valued member of Leicester City staff became an overnight internet sensation.
Jim, our Supporter Liaison & Disability Access Officer, was the talk of social media on Sunday night after his wild celebrations to Jamie Vardy’s equaliser against Aston Villa, captured brilliantly by television cameras, went viral.
The Foxes went on to secure a memorable victory over our Midlands rivals – Nathan Dyer scoring late-on to complete a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down.
And after his brush with the big time, which was even featured on Match of the Day 2, Jim was happy to get back to work on Monday, fielding supporter enquiries on the #lcfchelp desk.
“It’s madness,” Jim told lcfc.com. “I can’t believe it’s got this much attention. My phone’s been going crazy since it happened.
“I’ve been a Leicester fan for 31 years, I’ve worked here for the last 18 and anyone that knows me, knows I’m passionate about the Club.
“When Jamie got that goal it just all came out at once. It was such a spirited response from the team to being 2-0 down and the stadium was rocking, I was completely caught in the moment.
“I never had any idea there would be a camera on me, though.”
Jim, born in Girvan, Ayrshire, but an adopted son of Leicester, actually missed Dyer’s winning goal. Typically dedicated to his job, he was managing a supporter service enquiry as the game reached its dramatic conclusion.
“I didn’t see the winner, but it was fantastic that we went on to win the game.
“I saw it afterwards on one of the internal screens and the bravery Dyer showed summed up everything this club’s about.”
Jim will be on the road next weekend as a Fox Travel coach steward for Saturday’s trip to Stoke City. If you have a supporter enquiry that needs Jim’s attention, email or tweet us using #lcfchelp.
Jim is also our point of contact for any queries from supporters with disabilities. Enquiries should be directed to .
