FA Youth Cup Preview: Leicester City vs. Chesterfield

Read a match preview on the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round game between Leicester City and Chesterfield at King Power Stadium on Monday 19 January (7pm kick-off).

Leicester City’s Under-18s take on Chesterfield in their next fixture after suffering a narrow 2-1 Barclays U18 Premier League loss to West Bromwich Albion at Belvoir Drive on Saturday 10 January.
The visitors went into half-time with a 1-0 lead courtesy of a strike from defender Daniel Barbir, but a penalty won and dispatched by Danny Rowe hauled City back on level terms on 67 minutes.
As the game looked to be heading for a draw, West Brom struck in injury time. Hamza Choudhury couldn’t turn Andre Wright’s deflected shot away from goal as Leicester, despite dominating the second half, suffered their first loss of 2015.
The Foxes saw off Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Youth Cup thanks to an early own goal from Sean Harrison at King Power Stadium, and will look to that fine, resilient performance when they host Chesterfield at the same venue on Monday evening.
The young Spireites, currently battling it out in the Youth Alliance U18 North East league, advanced to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in December.
Goals from Villa’s Khalid Abdo and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy put the visitors into a commanding 2-0 lead.
But strikes from Jordan Walshaw and Kabine Dumbuyu levelled it up at 2-2 before Tope Fowodu sealed the stunning comeback for Chesterfield.
Having already beaten Premier League opposition to reach the fourth round, City will need to be on top form to set up a trip to either Everton or Southampton in the next stage.
