U18s Report: Arsenal 2 Leicester City 2

- Kairo Mitchell and Harvey Barnes were on target for the young Foxes 

Leicester City’s Under-18s staged an excellent comeback against Arsenal on Saturday, as they recovered from two goals down to earn a Barclays U18 Premier League point in London. 

The young Foxes found themselves 2-0 down after an hour following strikes from Donyell Malen and Tyrell Robinson, before getting back into the game on 65 minutes. 

A neat turn from Kairo Mitchell saw the forward shake off his marker before firing an excellent shot into the top corner of the net to make it 2-1. 

Trevor Peake’s outfit went in search of an equaliser and deservedly found one with just five minutes to play as midfielder Harvey Barnes saw his low effort from a difficult angle deflect into the back of the net. 

Reflecting on the draw, Under-18s manager Peake told LCFC.com: “They were probably the best team we’ve played this season based on their first half performance. Their passing was very good indeed. 

“They dominated possession and went 1-0 up in later stages of first half. Their ‘keeper did make two or three terrific saves on counter attack, one from point blank range while we were 1-0 down. 

“At half-time, the team talk was about how we’ve actually created chances, but earlt in the second period, we went 2-0 down. 

“After that, we played very well, had more possession and we were eventually rewarded with two couple of goals.” 

The draw saw City remain third in the U18 Premier League table ahead of a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday 17 October (11am kick-off).
