U18s Report: Leicester City 1 Tottenham Hotspur 1

- Dylan Duncan gave Tottenham Hotspur the lead on 84 minutes, before the young Foxes equalised just 13 seconds after getting the game back underway 

- City face Aston Villa at Belvoir Drive next weekend 

A late equaliser from Harvey Barnes earned Leicester City’s Under-18s a Barclays U18 Premier League point against Tottenham Hotspur at Belvoir Drive on Saturday. 

The young Foxes were pegged back with six minutes to play when Dylan Duncan opened the scoring for the visitors. 

But City were level just 13 seconds after getting the game back underway thanks to a well-worked move that was rounded off by midfielder Barnes. 

It came straight from kick off, with Josh Eppiah flicking the ball on to Barnes, who converted from a tight angle 18 yards out. 

Speaking to LCFC.com after the game, Under-18s manager Trevor Peake said: “It really was a tight affair and it looked as if it would finish 0-0, but they managed to score late on, which was a little bit of a blow given we had a number of good chances. 

“There’s no way we deserved to lose the game, so thankfully we scored straight from the kick off to equalise and then applied pressure in the remaining few minutes, but couldn’t get the winning goal. 

“Their goal was pretty disappointing to concede as it was a ricochet and it landed nicely in front of one of their players, so there was no fault in our defending, just a matter of where the ball landed and we paid for it. 

“But the response was very good in the end. Tottenham are a very good side with a lot of quality. They keep the ball well, just like their first team, and their full backs bomb on so they can attack in wide areas.”
