Leicester City’s Under-18s rounded off 2015 with an impressive Barclays U18 Premier League victory over Reading at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.

The young Foxes headed into the game on the back of Wednesday’s 5-0 FA Youth Cup Third Round win over Cheltenham Town.

Doubles from Layton Ndukwu and Admiral Muskwe and header from Darnell Johnson earned Trevor Peake’s outfit a fourth round tie at Blackburn Rovers.

Ndukwu was again on the scoresheet for the Club’s Under-18s on Saturday, as he converted a free kick just after the break, adding to Lamine Sherriff’s first-half strike.

Reflecting on the game, Under-18s manager Peake told LCFC.com: “It was very pleasing because Reading are second and look like the only real threat to leaders Chelsea at the moment.

“We were expecting a really difficult game and mixed it up a little bit in terms of our players. After Wednesday’s win against Cheltenham, we gave a couple of the younger lads a game.

“Bearing that in mind it was a very creditable result against a team that is consistently strong and right up the league table.

“They really pressed us hard and were very direct at times, so it was pleasing to see the defence and goalkeeper rolling their sleeves up and protecting the lead that we’d done so well to get. We didn’t let them get back in the game thanks to some very good defending.

“The game gave some of the younger lads a taste of what level they’ll be playing at next year, so it was a positive result in that aspect also.”
