U18s Report: Leicester City 2 Wolverhampton Wanderers 3
But with just 20 minutes to play, Wolves fired in three goals to turn the game on its head, despite Leicester hitting the woodwork twice.
Reflecting on the defeat, Under-18s manager Trevor Peake told LCFC.com: “We were 2-0 up with about 20 minutes to go, so it was obviously disappointing after being in the lead heading into the closing stages of the game.
“The two goals we scored credited our energy. Things looked quite good after Admiral’s and Danny’s goals. We had a couple of early injuries, much like the first team on Wednesday night against Chelsea. Hamza Choudhury came off after 25 minutes and then Kyle Bailey came off at half-time.
“We were stretched a little bit, and in the last 20 minutes, Elliot Percival, who’s just coming back from injury having been out for six weeks, was feeling the pace and also had to come off.
“We had also had a few in that were just coming back through injury, like Danny Rowe, who is still finding his way. Conor Anderson, having been out for much of the season, managed to play a full game following his recovery, which is good.”
City's youngsters will round off their U18 Premier League campaign with a trip to West Ham United on Saturday 9 May (12pm kick-off).
