Development Squad manager Steve Beaglehole says he has been pleased with his side’s creativity as they head into the 2015/16 Barclays U21 Premier League season.

The Foxes most recently beat Bristol City 3-1 at Belvoir Drive and have registered five wins in seven pre-season friendly fixtures.

A double from Jacob Blyth and a fine free kick from Michael Cain helped City to victory on Tuesday in a game that saw Beaglehole’s side take their goalscoring tally to an impressive 26 in pre-season.

“In general it’s been a very good pre-season,” Beaglehole told Foxes Player HD. “We’ve looked creative and we’ve scored a lot of goals. We’ve scored three and could have scored a lot more against Bristol. Their goalkeeper has pulled off some good saves, so that’s pleasing.

“We’ve changed the team a little bit and gave one or two of the younger players a good run. We’re pleased with their contribution. Matty Miles has done ever so well, and young Layton Ndukwu looked really exciting when he came on.

“We’re in good shape, the lads look fit and we’re very much looking forward to the start of the season, particularly with it being against Manchester United.”

City host reigning U21 Premier League Champions Manchester United in their first game of the 2015/16 season on Monday evening at King Power Stadium – a game that Beaglehole says his side are fully prepared for.

He added: “People will tell you it’s all about peaking in pre-season and you can’t really read a lot into results. It’s nice to win games and be in a situation where you look like you can score goals.

“It’s gone well. Monday night will be the test for us. They’re strong opposition and they’re always a fit and athletic side. We’ve prepared well and we’ll always give 100 per cent.”
