U21s Preview: Leicester City vs. Liverpool
Leicester City’s Development Squad will look to close the gap on league-leaders Manchester United when they host Liverpool at King Power Stadium on Monday evening.
The Foxes have been in superb form in recent weeks, losing just once in nine games in all competitions.
That defeat came against Manchester City last time out, where a hat-trick from left-back Angelino and a strike from Brandon Barker gave the Citizens a 4-2 victory, while Anthony Knockaert and Joe Dodoo were on target for Steve Beaglehole’s outfit.
A win against Liverpool could see City leapfrog their Merseyside opponents and move within two points of Manchester United.
After 16 games, Liverpool sit second in the Barclays U21 Premier League table – just one point above Leicester City.
The Merseyside outfit have also enjoyed a productive run of form in recent weeks, registering just two defeats in their last seven games in all competitions.
Last time out, Alex O’Hanlon’s early strike couldn’t secure victory as Moussa Dembele and Tayo Edun handed Fulham a 2-1 win.
This fixture will be the first time the two sides have met this campaign, with another clash coming on Monday 4 May at Chester's Swansway Stadium.

Striker Harry Panayiotou is the man in form for the Development Squad after scoring six goals in his last six games in all competitions.
Panayiotou’s recent performances in a City shirt saw him claim the Barclays U21 Premier League Player of the Month award for March.
It was a memorable month for the forward, who also became the first ever player in the Club’s history to score a hat-trick at international level.
With pace, power and an eye for goal, Panayiotou has flourished upfront for the Foxes this campaign, and will be the one to keep an eye on on Monday evening.
