Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa says both teams have improved since their last meeting at King Power Stadium ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Ulloa was twice on the scoresheet last term as the Foxes secured a stunning 5-3 victory over the Red Devils after coming from 3-1 down in the second half, but the Argentine feels both teams have transitioned since that day.

Indeed the Foxes spent the majority of last season at the foot of the table while Manchester United have steadily improved under Louis Van Gaal’s management – leading to a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

With 28 points, the Foxes sit in first place just one point ahead of United, who also boast the league’s meanest defence going into the match against the league’s top scorers.

“I think it’s difficult to repeat the same games,” Ulloa told Foxes Player HD. “We need to forget the last game and think about now. Manchester [United] are different now.

“Last year they were in transition with the new manager and new players. Now they are better than last year and we are better than last year as well. I think it will be a different game this year.”

Key to City’s attacking ambitions on Saturday is Ulloa’s team-mate Jamie Vardy, who is aiming to become the first Premier League player to score in 11 consecutive matches against the Red Devils.

He matched former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record with a goal set up by Ulloa last time out and the Argentine knows Vardy won’t let Manchester United’s defenders have a moment’s rest on Saturday.

He added: “For the defenders it’s difficult to defend against him as if they do give him space he could kill them. It’s important that we play with the same mentality and intensity because this is the key.

“We also need to help him make a goal. It’s good for him and for us if he gets the goal. We’ll wait a long time before we see this situation again.

“We enjoy playing with him in games and in training every day. He’s a nice guy and now we hope he continues and he can break the record because it will be important for the Club and him. We need to help him to break the record in this next game.”
