Ulloa: Stronger Together

Leo Ulloa was quick to play down his own contribution after yet another FA Cup goal gave Leicester City a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
The Argentine striker cancelled out Andros Townsend’s opener to make it five goals in his last five FA Cup appearances and allow Jeff Schlupp to grab the late winner – booking a fifth round date with Aston Villa in the process.

However Ulloa, who scored the winner against Newcastle United in the previous round and has netted in every FA Cup game he has played in, was more concerned with the team’s progress than personal achievements.

“I always like the cup,” he told Foxes Player. “It’s important and very important in England.

“I really like the cup and it gives me more confidence too – it gives me another goal – but it’s more important for the team because we can play in the next round and we need a little bit more confidence, the staff players and team for the next game.

“It’s a really good result for us because we needed it to give us confidence for the next game, so it’s very important for us.

“It was difficult, because Tottenham are a good team and they played well. They played really well in the first half. We had two chances, but we didn’t score. But it was important to carry on in the game because we can change the situation in just a few minutes.”

Ulloa’s goal arrived in the 82nd minute of the match, when he controlled an effort from Schlupp inside the box before stroking it past Michel Vorm to spark the comeback.

“I think it was a shot!” Recalled Ulloa of Schlupp’s assist. “The goal was important, not whether he shot or passed. I got good control on it and a good finish. Now I will enjoy it for a couple of days before I start thinking about the next game.”

On the Leicester City fans, Ulloa added: “It’s a good feeling for the players and me because they are really good support for us.

“We need to continue in this together, because we are stronger together. In the league, we can stay up together and do well in the cup too. It’s important that the Club and the fans stay together.”
