There will be no let up in performance against Chelsea on Sunday says Jamie Vardy, as the striker looks to lay claim to the Barclays Premier League Golden Boot at Stamford Bridge.

Of course, the priority is three points for champions, who lifted the famous trophy at King Power Stadium last week, but as they head into the season finale, Vardy trails league top scorer Harry Kane by just one goal.

The newly crowned Barclays Premier League and Football Writers’ Association Player of the Season has racked up 24 goals during an incredible campaign, just one shy of Kane’s total for Tottenham.

But while Vardy would love to stake a claim for the Golden Boot at the home of last season’s champions on Sunday, he knows it’s all about doing a job for the team as they look to extend or maintain their 10-point lead at the top.

“We just want to keep that winning mentality going,” Vardy told Foxes Player HD. “The boss is right behind us with that. We want to go there, put a performance in and get the three points. If that means I get a goal or two on top then happy days, we’ll see what happens at full time after the game.”

It will be a special day for the Foxes as they see out the season as champions, but for manager Claudio Ranieri, who managed Chelsea from 2000 until 2004, it will be a particularly special moment, especially as he remains popular with the Stamford Bridge faithful.

“You could see it when Chelsea played Tottenham,” added Vardy. “There were flags in the Chelsea stand saying 'do it for Claudio' so it’s obvious that he’s loved down there by the fans.

“I’m sure it’ll be a brilliant, emotional day for him but I’m sure deep down that he wants to win.

“I think it’s (the title win) not sunk in to everyone to be honest with you and I don’t think it will for some time. It’s an incredible achievement and it just shows what a good group of lads that we’ve got.”

Regardless of whether Leicester win or Vardy scores on Sunday, it has still been the season of a lifetime for all involved at Leicester, with the striker’s schedule being particularly busy at present.

A double award win from the Premier League and the Football Writers’ Association have been just some of the plaudits coming his way in recent weeks, but as always, Vardy put the credit at the door of his team-mates.

He added: “It’s a massive honour to be voted the player of the season, so I think it just shows what we’ve actually done as a team as well. Obviously I wouldn’t have been able to get into this position without my team-mates behind me and the manager as well.

“It’s been like a reality TV show! It’s been non-stop all week. I’ve been training and then getting on with media duties and managing to get to bed, then it’s more media duties, training, media duties, then it’s travelling to London for the Football Writers’ Awards and driving straight back after to get as much sleep as possible ahead of training on Friday.”
