Leicester City captain Wes Morgan says lifting the CONCACAF Gold Cup with Jamaica would rank alongside anything he has achieved in his career.

The Foxes skipper's marathon season finally reaches its conclusion in the early hours of Monday morning when the Reggae Boyz face Mexico in the North American international showpiece in Philadelphia.

Morgan has been central to Jamaica's progress through the competition, which has seen them top a group including Canada, Costa Rica and El Salvador before eliminating Haiti and tournament favourites the United States in the knockout phase.

Wes admits he could never have imagined he and his team mates would reach Sunday's final at Lincoln Financial Field, but is now determined to be part of the first Jamaican team to win the competition in its 52-year history.

"I think I would be lying if I said I expected to get this far and make it to the final," Wes told lcfc.com "But now that we're here, we've earned the right to show people we're worthy of winning it. We'll give it everything we've got.

"We've demonstrated from the first game how good a side we are. We've gone from strength to strength as the competition has gone on and now there is a real belief that we're as good as any other team in the tournament, if not better. Confidence is high.

"Togetherness and spirit in the team have been the key factors in us getting this far. We've been working so hard for each other on the pitch, our organisation and discipline have been incredible and that's definitely helped us through games where our backs have been against the wall, but we've still come out with a win.

"To go on and win it would be another incredible achievement for me and for the team. It would go right up there with winning promotion to the Premier League with Leicester and our successful fight to stay there last season.

"The whole journey has been one of the best experiences of my career."

Jamaica will be big underdogs against Mexico, who are vying for their 10th Gold Cup title in Pennsylvania and were heavily tipped before the tournament.

But while Jamaica topped their group and have conceded just three times in the competition thus far, Mexico have hardly lived up to their status as pre-tournament favourites alongside the United States.

El Tricolor finished second in their group behind Trinidad & Tobago and needed extra time to advance past both Costa Rica and Panama in the knockout stages.

Jamaica were outsiders against co-hosts USA in the semi-finals and came out on top. On Sunday, they'll be out to prove they are better than the Mexicans.

"Mexico is going to be another tough test like the USA," Wes said. "They were tipped along with the States to go ahead and win it so we have to prepare ourselves for another tough game.

"But I'm sure they will worry about us too after some of our displays.

"Mexico have an experienced, energetic side who expect to win, but, being the underdogs, we'll be hoping to cause another upset."

The CONCACAF Gold Cup Final between Jamaica and Mexico kicks off at 0030 BST. We'll have a round-up and reaction on from Monday morning.
