Emile Heskey

When he was transferred to Liverpool in March 2000 Emile Heskey was worth £11 million to the City coffers. But the Filbert Street faithful would have quite happily forgone the fee and kept the fast and powerful striker in a blue shirt for the rest of his career.
'Bruno' was a product of the City youth scheme and made his first team debut against Queens Park Rangers at the age of 17 when he was a first year trainee. During his time leading the line at Filbert Street critics maintained he did not score enough goals but those in the know realised he made an immense contribution to Martin O'Neill's team.
Two winners medals from Coca-Cola Cup and Worthington Cup finals with City were followed by Worthington Cup winners medals with Liverpool in both 2001 and 2003, meaning that Heskey gathered four winners medals in six seasons in that competition.
In the summer of 2004 Heskey returned to the Midlands, signing for Steve Bruce's Birmingham City in a move that reunited him with City team-mates Robbie Savage and Muzzy Izzet.
Following a two-year spell at St Andrew's Emile made the move to the JJB Stadium to join Wigan Athletic in a £5 million deal.
Heskey made 195 appearances for City between October 1995 and March 2000 scoring 46 goals.
