Leicester City confirmed the capture of Danish goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen on Monday for an undisclosed fee.

After a short period in England with Millwall, Nielsen (29) returned to hometown club AaB Aalborg in 1995. He has not missed a Danish Superliga game since 1997 - racking up an impressive 398 appearances along the way.

Nielsen has represented his country at both under 19 and 21 level. He was named Danish goalkeeper of the year in both 1998 and 2004.

Nielsen will join up with his new team-mates for the first time when they return for pre-season training at the Belvoir Drive training ground on Monday, July 2.

He has signed a two-year contract with the club, keeping him at the Walkers Stadium until at least the end of the 2008-09 campaign.
