Hinckley United 4-5 Leicester City
Leicester City's pre-season campaign began with an entertaining 5-4 victory over Hinckley United at the Marsdon's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Nigel Pearson named a 29-man squad for the contest - with two sets of XI playing either side of the break.
And the fixture turned out to be a very competitive work out - with City having to come from behind in the later stages of the game to secure the win.
Early goals from Steve Howard and new signing Nicky Adams quickly gave Leicester the advantage, but Hinckley hit back through Gez Murphy (2) and Adam Webster to make it 3-2 going into the interval.
A fine individual goal from Max Gradel made it all square once again at the start of the second half, only for Webster to add his second and Hinckley's fourth on the hour mark.
But City levelled things up again when Matty Fryatt dispatched a penalty, and Ashley Chambers sealed the victory with a fine finish after breaking from the half-way line.
Following the game, boss Nigel Pearson said: "I learned a lot about the team today and I have got a few things to consider over the next few weeks.
"I am delighted that we got asked some serious questions out there. Hinckley played very well. They scored some good goals and gave us a bit of a wake up call.
"We finished the game strongly, which I would have expected us to do.
"We know that we have got a difficult season ahead and come August 9 we will be ready for the challenge."
The Foxes now travel to Slovenia for a five-day training camp.
City (1st half): Logan, Gilbert, Rowe-Turner, Magunda, N'Gotty, King, Adams, Oakley, Howard, Campbell, Dyer.
(2nd half): Henderson, Cox, J Chambers, Worley, Morrison, Wesolowski, Gradel, Kishishev, Fryatt, Odhiambo (Porter 72), A Chambers.
