Leicester City's pre-season campaign ended with another impressive performance against Championship opposition on Saturday afternoon.

Matt Oakley's 32nd minute effort deservedly handed the Foxes a first-half advantage and the difference could have been even more emphatic with Max Gradel, Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard also coming agonisingly close.

Palace came back into the game after the break and equalised through Victor Moses on 60 minutes.

But Nigel Pearson's men refused to settle for the draw and could even have nicked the victory with Levi Porter, DJ Campbell and Oakley testing the hosts' defence.

However, the sides could not be separated at the final whistle.

The hosts raced out of the blocks and Moses drilled a long range effort wide of the target inside a minute.

At the other end, Gradel and Joe Mattock raced clear down either flank in quick succession but their crosses eluded the advancing City forwards.

Paul Henderson saved comfortably from Tom Soares on five minutes after the midfielder had been picked out by Paul Ifill.

Former Fox Paddy McCarthy had to be alert to block Lloyd Dyer's dangerous low cross into the box on nine minutes before Danny Butterfield tried his luck from 25-yards out but the ball was always rising.

Julian Speroni saved from Gradel on 14 minutes and the 'keeper was at it again a minute later when he tipped Fryatt's curling effort around the post for a corner.

Dyer shot wide soon after before Gradel's long range effort was deflected over for another City corner as the visitors continued to pile on the early pressure.

Steve Howard was denied by Speroni in the 29th minute after some more good work down the left side by Dyer.

And the visitors' pressure paid off on 32 minutes when Oakley pounced from close range to hand his side the lead.

It was a well-worked goal with a free-flowing Gradel feeding Howard, whose shot was blocked by McCarthy, only for the stand-in captain to mop up from 10-yards for the first goal of the contest.

The Foxes continued to press and it was the turn of Howard to go close in the 37th minute but the striker could not keep his shot down after some neat play by Oakley on the right.

McCarthy blocked Kerrea Gilbert's teasing cross a minute later whilst at the other end, Nick Carle looped an effort narrowly over Henderson's goal on 41 minutes.

Gilbert thwarted Carle in first-half stoppage time and it remained 1-0 to the visitors at the interval.

DJ Campbell replaced Fryatt for the start of the second half and he almost made an immediate impact when he saw his outside of the foot effort from the edge of the box deflected behind for an early second half corner.

Henderson punched clear from a Carle corner on 50 minutes before Aleksandar Tunchev made way for Jack Hobbs in the 52nd minute.

Some further fine work from Gradel, resulted in Campbell again seeing a shot fly off a Palace defender and behind for a flag kick.

A fine point blank save from Henderson denied Ifill on 57 minutes but the Australian could do little to stop the hosts equalising on the hour.

Sean Scannell beat Joe Mattock to the byline before feeding Moses and he made no mistake from the right-hand angle, powering the ball past Henderson for the leveller.

Levi Porter replaced Dyer on 61 minutes then it was Ifill's turn to shoot inches over from the edge of the area.

At the other end, Campbell fired wide before Speroni dashed off his line to thwart Porter after a clever through ball by Oakley.

Henderson tipped Scannell's shot around the post on 70 minutes before Barry Hayles and Radostin Kishishev came on for Howard and Andy King respectively a minute later.

Oakley nearly handed his side the lead again in the 75th minute but after powering through the left hand channel, his shot beat Speroni but flew inches over the crossbar.

Nicky Adams replaced Gradel on 76 minutes then Calvin Andrews' header was deflected behind for a corner as the Eagles pressed for a second.

Porter's shot was blocked in the 84th minute following some good wing play by Adams.

Academy prospect and England Youth international Luke O'Neill came on for Mattock a minute later before James Wesolowski replaced goalscorer Oakley.
