Head To Head: Fulham
HEAD TO HEAD
Overall the two clubs have now met on some 80 previous occasions, with 8 of those have coming in knockout competitions. In the league, Fosse/City have won just 5 and drawn 9 of the 36 meetings at Craven Cottage. However, the Foxes emerged from the bank of the Thames with a draw and a defeat on the only two visits there on sudden death business.
EARLY MEETINGS
The clubs first met in Division Two in 1907-08. Fulham won the first ever clash, at Filbert Street, by 3-2, and went on to win the first five encounters before Fosse finally squeezed to a 3-2 home win in 1910-11. City and Fulham were first paired in the F A Cup in successive seasons in the roaring twenties, both times at Filbert Street, with Harry Graham finding the net in each year as the Foxes ran out 2-0 and 4-0 winners respectively.
OTHER CUP TIES
We had to wait until 1960 for a repeat pairing, this time in round four, and City players actually netted all the goals in a 2-1 victory. Another tie came in 1974, en route to a semi-final appearance for City. Len Glover and Frank Worthington were on target, as the Foxes needed extra time to squeeze home 2-1 in a replay, after the original clash at Craven Cottage had been illuminated by Alan Mullery's spectacular Goal of the Season past Peter Shilton. City's marksman at Craven Cottage that afternoon was also Len Glover. The only previous League Cup encounter was also memorable: a 3-3 draw after extra time at Filbert Street in the 2000 quarter final, that eventually saw the Foxes progress 3-0 after a penalty shoot out, but not before Steve Walsh and Ian Marshall had proved to be City's heroes on the night. More recently, Fulham edged home 4-3 in an F A Cup fourth round replay in January 2007, after an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Walkers Stadium. The replay was particularly notable for a fine strike from James Wesolowski.
BIGGEST WINS
Leicester's best season against Fulham came in 1952-53, when the Foxes won 6-1 at Filbert Street and 6-4 at Craven Cottage. Former Cottager Arthur Rowley hit four goals in the first meeting and another three in the return fixture. City also recorded an impressive double in 1965-66, winning 5-0 at home and 4-0 away, with Jackie Sinclair netting a brace in each fixture. Fulham's biggest win was by 5-0 at Craven Cottage in 1919-20, with Don Cock scoring a hat-trick, whilst their best in Leicester was a 5-2 win over Fosse in 1911-12.
SEQUENCES
City have not beaten Fulham in any of their last six meetings. The Foxes last win over Fulham came in a penalty shoot-out in the League Cup quarter final in 1999-2000, the most recent League Cup tie between the clubs. The most recent matchplay victory came at Craven Cottage in the promotion six-pointer in April 1983, when Ian Wilson's late goal proved decisive.
