Paul Dickov believes confidence within the Leicester City camp should remain "sky high" despite their last-gasp 3-2 Carling Cup defeat at Premier League Fulham on Wednesday evening.
The Foxes were the leading the contest with seven minutes to go thanks to second half goals from Dickov himself and Andy King.
But a Jimmy Bullard equaliser and late deflected effort from Danny Murphy handed the home side an undeserved victory and passage into the third round.
However, the 35-year-old striker, who played 87 minutes of the contest at Craven Cottage, insisted that there were an abundance of positives to take from the clash despite the unfortunate loss in stppage time.
He said: "Obviously losing the game was a massive disappointment because our performance deserved better.
"Two deflections have done us but we can take a lot of positives out of the game and take them into our game at Cheltenham on Saturday.
"Our standards have now been set and we must make sure we give each other a kick up the backside if those standards drop.
"But I know this defeat won't have a knock-on effect. The lads won't need much lifting and confidence should still be sky high.
"Fulham are a Premier League team who beat Arsenal at the weekend and for long periods we outplayed them."
Dickov's 46th minute equaliser was his first goal since re-joining the Foxes earlier this month and he added: "It was nice to get the goal and be involved with Andy King's second but it was just disappointing that we couldn't hang on.
"However, I was pleased to get minutes under my belt and I felt good in terms of my fitness.
"We are all looking forward to Cheltenham now."
