Edworthy Joins Foxes

Posted on: Mon 10 Nov 2008
Leicester City have today completed the signing of free agent Marc Edworthy.

The 35-year-old has signed a contract with the club that will keep him at the Walkers Stadium until January 6, 2009.

Edworthy is a versatile defender who has turned out for Plymouth Argyle, Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City and Derby County during his 17-year professional career to date.

City boss Nigel Pearson said: "We are delighted to welcome Marc on board. He has been training with us for the last month and his attitude has been excellent.

"He is a player who has been there and done it and he will be a good addition to the squad."

Edworthy made 11 appearances for the Rams last season, including nine in the Premier League, and joins Matt Oakley, Chris Powell and Steve Howard as ex-Derby players in the Leicester squad.

The player has been handed the number two shirt and is eligible to play in Saturday's FA Cup clash against Stevenage Borough if selected.
