Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson had praise for his players in overcoming a battling Blackpool side at the Walkers Stadium this afternoon.
The Seasiders arrived here unbeaten to underline their status as difficult opposition and Pearson said: "It was a potential banana skin. They have had a decent start to the season so it was a good win. The bottom line is that in terms of the game itself, the first half was very tight and we scored the goal through some very good play.
"It was a good response from two tough defeats on the road and it is back to the plan, if you like, doing everything we can to win the game. I think we were worthy winners but it was a tough game."
A smartly taken free-kick by Richie Wellens sent Matty Fryatt through for the first of his match-winning double and Pearson said: "All I am saying is that you ask your players to be pro-active and it was a very good piece of thinking."
It also raised the quirky statistic of City being undefeated at the Walkers for a whole year and Pearson said: "It is credit to the players but this season is about making sure we are very competitive and that we give ourselves a good chance of having a decent year and I think our home form is good.
"Yes we would have liked to have played better but we have got to make sure that when you are not absolutely at your best, you are still winning games. I think this was a case in point."
