Gallagher Looks For Instant Response

Posted on: Mon 28 Sep 2009

City attacker, Paul Gallagher, believes the team can bounce back in style from Saturday's home setback against Preston North End, by doing well at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Preston inflicted the end of an undefeated home run that has lasted over a year, with a 2-1 victory, but resilience has always been the hallmark of the Foxes under Nigel Pearson and Gallagher sees no reason why they cannot respond again in a positive manner.

He said: "We have to be professional. There is a big game coming up against Middlesbrough and we have to prepare for that. We will go there as we always do, to try to win the game because that is the mentality of the club."

"They have started off very well but you never know in football, they lost 5-0 just over a week ago and we will go there and try to come home with a good result."

Gallagher is still looking for his first City goal and has had some bad luck so far, but he is thinking positively.

He said: "I want to help the lads win games and I want to score a goal to get that off my back. That is what I have been brought here for but if I don't score them, then hopefully I can make them for someone else."

City were hit on the break on Saturday, but Gallagher stresses that there is no blame culture in the camp.

He said: "Their two goals came from counter-attacks but you can't blame the defence. This is a team game and we were attacking so maybe we could have kept the ball. It is a team game and we are all disappointed."

"We wanted to keep that record going. It was a proud record to have and hopefully we can kick-on and make it another year. The positive thing was that we created a lot of chances and on another day they might have gone in, but that is football, isn't it?"

Tickets for the game at Middlesbrough are still available from the ticket office until 1.00pm tomorrow (Tuesday). Any remaining tickets after 1.00pm can be purcahsed at Riverside Stadium. Adult tickets are priced at £26.00 with Under 18's priced at £13.00. For more information please click here.
