Leicester's football staff set off to the North East Monday afternoon to cycle from Newcastle to Carlisle to fundraise for LOROS, our official charity whose logo also adorns The Foxes away shirts. Nigel Pearson and his backroom staff left from the Walkers Stadium to take on the two day challenge.
"We are going to have a great time," Nigel told us. "Whatever money we raise for LOROS, we are also going to raise awareness for the great work LOROS are doing. Any extra money is of course a benefit.
"They have a wonderful facility in the form of the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice, which we recently visited. They are really helping people, which is a worthy cause to be a part of. Putting our name to such an organisation as a club is also great for us. It is not just about the fundraising. We have to see the bigger picture and help those who need it."
"As far as I'm aware, they had raised nearly £1,300 before leaving, which is great. I am confident they will enjoy the bike challenge as sportsmen, and the Newcastle-Carlisle journey is a well-known cycling route. We really appreciate anything they raise, and the two day trip will also help enhance their already fantastic team spirit and togetherness," Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS, added.
