Martyn Believes More Goals Will Come

Posted on: Mon 30 Nov 2009

City striker, Martyn Waghorn, believes that the Foxes will inflict a heavy defeat on someone soon enough. The striker scored the opening goal early on in the game against Scunthorpe, which should have heralded another away win for City.

His strike at Glanford Park sparked off long periods of dominance, but the chances created would not go in. This was mainly due to the Iron's 'keeper, Joe Murphy, who saved several efforts before Martyn Woolford's goal, deep into stoppage time, saw the home fans celebrating an equaliser and not the consolation it should have been.

Waghorn said: "The way we have been piling on the pressure and creating chances, one team is going to get it sooner or later. We are not scoring as many goals as we would like, but we are still winning games, I suppose.

"In the first half we should have got a few more goals but we didn't. I think we played well and obviously we are a bit disappointed."

"I felt like I was going to score more. Their defence at times was a bit wide open and me and Matty (Fryatt) got in a number of times, but we didn't score."

"Obviously we are upset and disappointed, but we will learn from it. It was one of those things. The ball just fell to the guy on the edge of the box in the last minute and on another day it might not have. Fair play to him, he scored but it is disappointing for us."

City's next trip is to the City Ground on Saturday, as the Foxes take on fourth placed Nottingham Forest. It's a fixture the Blue Army have been looking forward to for a long time and Waghorn is confident there will be no hangover from Saturday's disappointment.

He said: "We will be ready for next week. We have a great set of lads and I am sure we will pick ourselves up for that one."

Tickets for the Nottingham Forest fixture have SOLD OUT. Fans that have not purchased tickets for the game are advised not to travel to the City Ground.
