Kingy Rues Missed Chances

Posted on: Mon 18 Jan 2010

It was third time unlucky against Swansea on Saturday but City, going for a hat-trick of wins over the Swans this season, never gave up the fight and the Welsh side were hanging on to the last seconds for the 1-0 win.

City midfielder Andy King believes the second-half revival deserved a point at least: "Having beaten them twice, we always felt we could score."

"We definitely thought right to the end we could get something as we had to come back against them twice already this season. We have got good attacking players in our side and always think we can score goals."

"We had done it before and we always had the belief that, as a squad, we could get back in the game and this was no different."

"But it wasn't to be. It wasn't that we didn't have chances. It was just that things didn't fall for us on the day. We have always had tight games against them."

"Swansea are a good side, especially at home. They knocked the ball around very well, especially in the first half, but in the second we had more of the possession."

"We changed it a little bit at half-time and got back in the game and I thought we were unlucky not to get anything out the game. The second-half performance definitely warranted that."

Torrential rain made the pitch awkward and a couple of good City chances were foiled by the surface but King said: "The pitch played fairly well, wasn't too bad and we wouldn't use that as an excuse. We will just look forward to the next game and hope to bounce back with a win next week."
