City boss Nigel Pearson confirmed that striker Matty Fryatt has a double fracture of the jaw and will be ruled out for some considerable time.
Fryatt went down after a collision with Rovers skipper Brian Stock in the first half of their Championship clash at the Walkers Stadium and had to be stretchered off. He was taken to hospital where his injury was diagnosed and Pearson said:
"He has broken his jaw in two places. I have no idea how long he is going to out but obviously it is not going to be short-term. It wasn't a good challenge was it?"
It added greatly to the disappointment for City as the visitors set their stall out very defensively and Pearson added:
"They got what they came for. For a side who came with a footballing reputation they were very, very negative and it proved to be a very frustrating night for us.
"As the game progressed, it became more frustrating. We did not perform to the levels we know we can. Coupled with that, it was a very stop-start game and they set themselves up to be difficult to beat and, as I say, they got what they came for."
