Foxes boss Nigel Pearson believes that due to the inconsistent nature of the Championship, the point gained in Tuesday's draw against Doncaster could yet be important in the race for the play-offs.
The mid-week programme in the Championship produced some more odd results, with Newcastle and Forest both losing on the road to sides in the bottom half of the table.
City's quest for a top six finish was also aided by defeats for two of the teams just below them; Sheffield United and Blackpool.
Pearson says that although the Foxes were disappointed to be held at home, things could have been worse.
"It's important in games like the other night that you don't get done with a sucker punch. Although on the face of it one point is a frustrating night, we came away with something when we weren't at our best."
The City gaffer will be forced into at least one change for Saturday's game against Scunthorpe United following the terrible injury to Matty Fryatt, but says his side must try and get over the loss of their star striker.
"There's no point bleating on about it. It's happened, and it wasn't a challenge we were particularly happy with but that's gone now.
It's now case of getting ready for the game on Saturday, and making sure we do everything we can to get maximum points.
