Two first-half goals from Adi Yussuf and Elliot Chamberlain earned City's Academy side a 2-1 home win over Cardiff City yesterday.
The interval lead was justifiable reward for a good first-half display for the home side and they then had to show strength of a different kind to ward off a Cardiff fightback, the visitors replying after the break.
Academy manager Jon Rudkin said: "It was pleasing just to get the game on at all, considering the bad weather, and it was a very good first-half performance from the boys.
"Cardiff were very strong after the break and, after they scored their goal, it was a quite tight affair in the end."
The Academy, still undefeated in the league, now look forward to a home clash against Aston Villa on Saturday at the training ground, 11.00am kick-off.
