Morrison Enjoying Life On The Right

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

When City signed Michael Morrison from Cambridge United in the summer of 2008, the youngster arrived predominantly as a centre back. But during Leicester City's eight game unbeaten run the 22 year old has been used as a right back by manager Nigel Pearson.

Since making the switch Morrison has been in impressive form and the defender says he has been pleased with his recent performances.

"I think I've done okay there and I've merited my place in the past few games. The defence has been solid and that's been crucial in the team getting the right results."

Playing as a full-back brings a number of different challenges, and Morrison admits he is having to learn quickly.

"There are different tasks to do, you've got to keep the ball well and there's more to do going forward. But I'm certainly enjoying playing in this position."

Morrison is also becoming a potent threat in the opposition's penalty area at set pieces; he scored the opener against Scunthorpe in the 5-1 home win and saw a header thunder against the bar against Forest in the East Midlands derby.

With fellow defender Bruno Berner opening the scoring against Forest, Morrison says it is important that everyone in the team tries to contribute when it comes to scoring goals.

"We need to score goals from different areas of the pitch, and it's good to have a couple of players who can score from the back.

Hopefully we can take the pressure off the strikers, because people have been asked to step up, especially after Matty's injury."
