For most of the teams embroiled in the play-off battle they have less than ten games to secure their place in the top six and gain promotion to the Premier League.
Nigel Pearson's Leicester City have a game in hand on most of their rivals and have their fate in their own hands, with an eight point gap to seventh place.
One man in the City squad who knows all about the race for promotion is skipper Matt Oakley, having helped Derby County to the Premier League in 2007.
The 32-year old is now intent on repeating the achievement with the Foxes and believes it would take a disaster to fail to make the top six.
"I think we'll definitely be there, we'd have to have a seriously bad run to fall out of those play-off places.
The sides below us would have to go on a run winning a lot of games, so I'm pretty confident that we'll be there at the end."
City now sit fourth in the table just four points behind Forest with a game in a hand, and Oakley admits the chase is on to haul back the deficit on their East Midlands rivals, and maybe even look to West Brom who are twelve points ahead of the Foxes.
"We'll catch the teams ahead of us. If we win our game in hand, we're a point behind Forest. We'll set our sights on West Brom as well but it'll be tough to catch them as they're a good side."
