Pearson On Royals Visit

Posted on: Thu 25 Mar 2010

Despite surrendering a two goal advantage at home against Coventry on Sunday, the 2-2 draw means the Foxes have now lost just one of their last twelve league games and have risen back to fourth in the Championship table.

Their next opponents Reading can claim to be in equally impressive form. The Royals have been galvanised under new manager Brian McDermott and have taken 25 points from the last 30 available.

Wednesday's game between the sides is a meeting of arguably the two most in form teams in the Championship, and City boss Nigel Pearson hopes it is his side that are able to continue their impressive run at the Walkers Stadium:

"They've had very good form of late so it'll be a tough game, and they'll come here with confidence.

Having said that we've done well recently and put ourselves in a good position, and we'll certainly be looking to carry that on."

Reading's surge up the Championship table has coincided with an excellent FA Cup run, which took them to the quarter finals before being knocked out by Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa.

Pearson believes that Reading's FA Cup run may have helped them turn around their league form, and see them emerge as outside shots for the play-offs:

"Their cup run has been very important for them. It's given them the belief to go and perform well in the league."

For the first time since January, Leicester had to make do without Bruno Berner who missed the game against Coventry after injuring his calf in the warm-up.

Pearson admitted, he is likely to miss out again against the Royals, but has faith in his understudy, Ryan McGivern:

"Bruno won't be available for this game and probably not for the next couple. But I thought that Ryan did really well when he came in on Sunday."
