Posted on: Thu 13 May 2010

After the roaring success of the recent 'From Shed to Stadium' exhibition at Snibston Science Museum, Leicester City's club historian, John Hutchinson, will be hitting the road exhibiting 125 years of Leicester City Football Club.

City supporters visiting the Records Office, Long Street, Wigston Magna between May 17 and July 8 will be able to see a number of the fine artefacts that made the 'From Shed to Stadium' exhibition so successful.

Over 13,500 visitors made the journey to Snibston to find out more about the history and heritage of the club's journey from the humble beginnings of Leicester Fosse, through to what we now know as Leicester City Football Club during a hugely popular ten week run in association with Leicestershire County Council.

An informative and nostalgic trip down memory lane, the exhibition will also highlight Leicester City's links within the local community, highlighting the heritage of where our famous football club began.

Present for the launch of the '125 Years of LCFC exhibition' will be City legend Howard Riley. A veteran of a near 200 games, Riley's presence at LCFC spanned the 50's and 60's as part of one of City's great teams.

The exhibitions aim to get the history of the club into the community has been realised, and Club Historian, John Hutchinson, is delighted at the prospect:

"In view of the tremendous success of the exhibition at Snibston, it is great to have the opportunity to take part of the display to other parts of Leicester."

Leicester City's chief executive, Lee Hoos, is pleased that people will get the chance to learn more about their local team:

"The exhibition is a real credit to those who have put it together; the whole event has been put together by fans, for fans, and that really shows in the care and attention to detail that has been put in.

"I am sure that the Leicester public will get behind it in the same way as the recent 'From Shed to Stadium' Exhibition at Snibston which was a huge success."

The event will also include a presentation by Club Historian, John Hutchinson, on July 16, 7.30pm that will focus on the many long forgotten stories from the club's archives.
