The City squad returned to pre-season training last week, and the return marked a significant change for City's First Team Coach, Chris Powell, who after over 750 career appearances finally hung up his boots to concentrate on his coaching career.
"There's been a lot of laughing and joking," said Powell, on the players return.
"The end of last season was a big disappointment, they have all had time to recharge, have a holiday and spend some quality time with family, everyone has come back in a good mood."
"Everyone has come back to a big change, but of course, we're looking forward to the new season. If we are positive in our outlook, I think everything will be fine."
After many intense pre-season campaigns of being put through his paces, Powell spoke of his desire to learn and progress as a coach as he looks to lend his vast experience towards another succesful campaign at the Walkers Stadium:
"It's new for me, I was preparing myself as a player last year and really with this big change, it's a learning curve for me.
I am a young coach, I want to progress and become a manager myself. There are new staff around, it's all part of developing. I have been a part of this sort of thing as a player, I think everyone will take it in their stride and look forward to the new season."
Powell is certain that the club can continue to move forward under the guidance of Paulo Sousa.
"Paulo was a well known player and had a great career. He has managed over here before and has had international experience. Now he is here at Leicester City, lets hope he comes in and does very well because the club has to move forward and look to the future. I hope he is the man to really push us forward."
