Leicester City came from behind to record an action packed victory against Slovenian side NK Aluminij in the final friendly of their Slovenian tour.

Goals from DJ Campbell, a brace for Steve Howard, and second half efforts from Matty Fryatt and trialist Leon Crncic gave Paulo Sousa his first win as City boss.

Sousa selected a strong starting eleven, with Nicky Adams being tried at right back, and Tom Kennedy getting his first City start on the opposite side.

City had the better of the early stages, with pace a major factor, Lloyd Dyer and DJ Campbell finding space behind the opposition defence.

In the eleventh minute City forced their first corner of the evening with some sharp link up play, typical of a Paulo Sousa team. Adams found King, who played in Campbell with a fine first time ball. The striker's cross was well tipped wide.

City won a second corner straight after, Oakley's set piece was headed narrowly wide by Steve Howard.

Against the run of play, the hosts took the lead in the sixteenth minute with their first real attack. The Aluminij forward curling a right footed shot past Weale into the top corner.

But Aluminij's lead didn't last long, no more than three minutes had passed before Steve Howard's clever header across goal was converted by DJ Campbell, his second goal in as many games.

The City comeback was complete a couple of minutes later, thanks to an excellent long range strike from Steve Howard. The former Luton striker turned his marker sharply and fired a low effort past the keeper from 25 yards out.

City's sharp passing football was beginning to reap the rewards it deserved in the first quarter of the game.

Mid-way through the first half City began creating chances at will, first Tom Kennedy on a surge from left back and then skipper Matt Oakley crossed for Howard. Howard's first effort was blocked, whilst he couldn't quite connect with Oakley's low ball.

When the Slovenian side did venture forward Sousa's team dealt comfortably with the majority of advances, the centre back pairing of Michael Morrison and Jack Hobbs were calmness personified.

Just after the half hour City increased their advantage, Wellens' effort was parried straight into the path of Steve Howard who made no mistake from close range.

The Foxes were starting overpower their opponents and soon after the third goal, a strong run forward from Campbell which saw him beat three players ended in him smashing a right footed effort against the bar.

Aluminij then replaced their goalkeeper, and the replacement stopper did well, rushing out of his goal to save from Oakley, from a classy chip forward from Wellens.

With six minutes to go until the break, the Slovenian's had a lifeline, Morrison blocked the initial shot, but the Aluminij striker poked the ball past Weale for his second goal of the game.

Just before the break, Chris Weale proved why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship, his acrobatic dive helping him tip over an effort from the right hand side of the penalty area, 3-2 it stayed at the break.

City made a host of changes at the break, and one of the substitutes Dany N'Guessan threatened early straight after the restart.

In fact it wasn't long before two of the other subs combined for the fourth goal, Paul Gallagher marked his first appearance of the season by playing in Matty Fryatt to find the net.

Fryatt continued to look sharp in the early stages of the second half, only just failing to latch on to a couple of through balls from midfield.

When Aluminij came forward they were restricted to shots from outside the area, twice they went close, but Conrad Logan was equal to both efforts.

The seventh goal of the game, was scored by a Slovenian but fortunately for City it was trialist Leon Crncic that got the goal. An excellent right wing corner from Gallagher was headed forcefully in by Crncic as the Foxes' took a three goal advantage.

Dany N'Guessan then missed a chance to make it six after clever play from Fryatt. From Fryatt's flick N'Guessan beat a couple of defenders but couldn't find the target with his shot.

In the final twenty minutes Conrad Logan came to his side's rescue, making a smart double save as the Slovenians pressed for a way back into the game.

Aluminij started to put a bit of pressure on the Foxes' defence going into the final quarter of an hour, a low shot from the edge of the area whistling inches past the post.

Young striker Ashley Chambers went close to finding the net as City came forward, Fryatt played in Chambers who turned neatly only to fire wide from a tight angle.

Crncic then almost got his second of the evening, an inch perfect pass from Yann Kermorgant left him one-on-one with the keeper but he chipped just over.
