Day 2:

"We left our local Amsterdam hotel at 9am for our flight from Schiphol to Kilimanjaro at 11am for the long eight and a half hour flight.

During the flight I watched two films which certainly helped pass the time; Date Night which was ok, 5 out of 10 and Sherlock Holmes, which was a pretty good film, 8 out of 10.

We arrived at Kilimanjaro airport at 8.30pm local time, then had a further one hour journey to an outpost hotel, Arusha.

It is now an overnight stay at the hotel which has a lot of creatures around which means plenty of insect repellent!

Unfortunately due to a poor connection we cannot send pictures. Another downfall so far is that because it is dark we cannot see the mountain yet.

When we do see it tomorrow, I'm sure that's when the enormity of the task will kick-in."

Andrew Neville's efforts have already raised a fantastic £4,000 for the Harley Staples Fund and you too can play your part by making a donation by visiting the website: www.harleystaples.co.uk.
