Neville's Kili Climb: Day 3
Fresh from yesterday's star turn as a film critic, City's Club Secretary, Andrew Neville gets ever closer to the real business in hand, his challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Harley Staples Fund.
Details of the fund and how you can donate can be found HERE.
Day 3 of the trip sees Andrew put some of the pre-climb nerves to one side, taking in some of the local scenery just 24 hours before his ascent up the mountain.
Day 3:
"It's day three, I forgot to mention in yesterday's blog that we met a couple of our fellow climbers on the plane. We have since met another one at breakfast this morning.
Last night was spent in a nice hotel, Outpost Hotel in Arusha. We slept with the mosquito nets up and there were also a few geckos in the room as well as some other lizards.
For tomorrow's climb I have got something of Harley's to take up the mountain with me and also a heart shaped rock for another young girl that passed away recently.
We have a free day today so we decided to go to the Arusha National Park, which was extraordinary. There were giraffe, zebra, warthogs, flamingoes, monkeys and even a python that went down the road alongside us, so quite an awesome day really.
Arusha is quite an experience it is a real hive of industry and very busy.
Obviously though the real business starts tomorrow, I'm still a wee bit nervous about it all.
We are now getting packed up again for an early start tomorrow for a four hour drive before we start the walk in the afternoon.
I'm a bit apprehensive but we are going to give it our best go, the emails seem to be working intermittently so I will try getting some pictures across.
If you see another bloke on there it is a friend of mine, Brian Cooper, who is doing the walk with me.
That's all for now as we get ready, hopefully I will be in touch tomorrow night from base camp"
