On deciding to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Harley Staples Fund, Leicester City Club Secretary, Andrew Neville had a rough idea of the demands of the trip, but nothing could prepare Neville for the emotional and physical impact that the journey would  have on him.

Day 7 of the climb sees Andrew come to terms with the stresses and strains of the extreme altitude and conditions as the climbers make their way towards the summit.

Day 7:

"This is definitely the most difficult physical and mental challenge of my life. I have dirty finger nails, I smell, and there is dust in my mouth, nose, ears and eyes. I'm also getting pretty tired. But the battery hasn't run out yet!

Today we are up at 4am UK time to go to summit camp at 4600m. We try to sleep if we can on arrival but at 10pm UK we begin the summit assault.

Walking through the night, so we may not be able to blog tonight. Trying to conserve phone battery.

We had toilets that actually flush in tonight's camp...luxury.

I am now so far outside of my comfort zone I cannot explain it to you. I am very dirty very smelly and my legs don't belong to me any more!

We have just reached summit camp and have to rest before we begin the summit assault at midnight local time. Drinking water is purified but tastes ok really and you have to drink loads which makes toilet trips pretty regular! The altitude tablets also take a toll but are recommended.

It is likely any headaches we get will intensify now and we may be sick, but although my body battery is running a bit lower now it hasn't run out yet and I haven't come this far without giving this thing my best shot."

Andrew's efforts are all in support of Leicester based charity The Harley Staples Fund.

You can provide Andrew Neville and his fellow climbers one last boost as they look to raise as much as possible for this great cause as they get ever closer to the Mountain's summit.
