City defender Jack Hobbs believes the midweek Carling Cup triumph at Leeds can act as a catalyst for a good run in the Championship. The Foxes recovered from a goal down to win at Elland Road, and Hobbs says the win will be a huge boost for the team ahead of the visit of Reading.
"We had to work very hard for that result and it was much needed as well in terms of giving confidence to the lads. The second half was a lot better with a lot more intensity and it was great to come away from Leeds by getting through to the next round."
Leicester turned the game on its' head on Tuesday, after trailing 1-0 at half time goals from Richie Wellens and Steve Howard sent City through and Hobbs praised the Foxes' attitude after the break.
"We came out with a bit more desire, took the game to them and just seemed to have a lot more options on the ball, played a lot quicker and created chances and it was a real positive. To win the tie in normal time was a real plus and we hope to get a good team in the next round."
The focus now returns to the chase for Championship points here against Reading on Saturday and Hobbs is hopeful that the win against Leeds will give City some momentum.
"Hopefully it will kick-start the winning habit we have had for a couple of years. Reading are a good side, we are looking forward to it, confidence is high again and hopefully we can push on and get the three points on Saturday.
"They have got a good side, good players with a lot of pace going forward which we will have to contend with but hopefully it will be about what we do together, make it about how we play, take the game to them especially at home and it will be a real test."
Hobbs won Leicester City's Player of the Year award last season, but the defender has not been pleased with the way he has started the 2010-11 campaign, and is looking for a rapid improvement in his form.
"The first few games I wasn't happy with. We conceded a lot of goals and personally I was not too happy but I have been working hard, getting more used to it and I think that has showed of late.
I have just tried to improve and get back to the standards I have been giving. I am not sure what it was, just being sloppy but I will move on from it and look to consistently play well."
