Sousa Praises Fighting Spirit

Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010

City boss Paulo Sousa pointed to his team's character as a positive sign even though the Foxes sunk to a 2-1 home defeat to Reading tonight.

A storming fightback just failed to land a late draw, and the result leaves City struggling in second bottom spot.

"The best positive I saw in this game was the character, the full commitment for everyone who tried everything to win the game. We created chances and we just need to be more clinical."

City again created a lot of chances but couldn't find that killer touch to nick a point. Sousa believes that if they can produce the goods in front of goal they'll quickly climb up the table from their current position of 23rd.

"We started well with good chances, but again we need to be more clinical because it brings more confidence and more convictions to everyone. We are going through a moment when every mistake we make we concede a goal, but I saw a good reaction, good character and good commitment with the club. That is the most positive thing I saw today."

Lloyd Dyer's racking equaliser after the break was the highlight of evening, and the winger was in terrific form on his return to the side from injury. Sousa says if every player in the squad can contribute as much as Dyer did against the Royals then City's fortunes should improve

"We want to bring more Lloyds into the team. It is always a concern to our opponents like Lloyd when he can run at them and it is something we want in different positions with that quality."
